Yes, this is actual opal! This one was sourced from Mexico, but you can also find sources in British Columbia and Oregon where volcanoes are prevalent. Fire opal can be faceted and this one is extra special for it's clarity and cut...thank you Spark Creations, the designer of this pendant. Measuring 10.5 x 8.5 mm, or 2.37 carats in weight, this oval fire opal sits at the bottom of another oval of 18 kt yellow gold. Between this oval and the yellow gold bail, you will find an 18 kt white gold ring of 12 round brilliant cut diamonds weighing 0.08 carats. The 18 kt white gold 17 inch cable chain closes with a lobster claw clasp.
This item is rhodium plated, a member of the platinum family.
